First UK installation of Miller Weldmaster Desktop T3 at Sunderland-based Where The Trade Buys

Sunderland-based company Where The Trade Buys is the first UK business to install Solent's T3 banner welder.

Having viewed the solution at Sign & Digital 2011, Martyn Young of Where The Trade Buys was so impressed with the ease of use, speed and quality of the desktop T3 that he immediately placed his order and is now producing high quality banners faster and better than ever before.

Martyn Young comments, “We are rapidly expanding family business and whereas previously we had to sew our banners, the Miller Weldmaster T3 changes our whole production process with better quality, appearance and significantly more output per day.  We have reorganised our factory to maximise the potential of the T3 and it is already proving to be a winner.”

Ian Jenkins of Solent added, “We are delighted that the desktop T3 is such a popular choice with UK banner makers. It’s a super machine with great versatility and the same impressive quality as the larger versions in the Miller Weldmaster range.”

Vista Systems introduces double-sided flag sign for road-side applications

Drytac demonstrates improved VersaCoater XL UV Liquid Coating machine for first time at FESPA

Drytac Europe Ltd, a Bristol, UK-based laminating film & machinery manufacturer, demonstrated its improved VersaCoater XL UV Liquid Coating machine to the European market for the first time at this years’ FESPA Digital in Hamburg.

The VersaCoater XL wide format UV curable roller coater is the most economical, flexible finishing solution for wide format graphics. Running at a process speed up to 33m/min, a 100m roll of printed vinyl was coated, cured and wound back onto a core in 4 minutes using the (optional) roll-to-roll feature during a live demonstration at FESPA.

Crowds gathered to watch this impressive feat, as well as the unveiling of the (optional) White Kit for the VersaCoater XL. With white liquid coatings for both flexible and rigid substrates, several reverse printed samples of acrylic we coated, showing how this feature can replace the costly need of printing in white, as well as give flexibility in opacity depending on how many passes through the coater the print went.

“I was very pleased at the level of interest shown for the VersaCoater XL,” said Jim Tatum, VP of Drytac’s Liquid Division, who attended the show. “The new features truly make this machine unlike any other available on the market and we were able to demonstrate that successfully.”

Other new features on the VersaCoater XL include a perspex see-through front cover with illuminated backlit coating section for improved visibility, a new curing system with split power feature for reduced power consumption, a new curing unit light shield for additional UV light safety (2m wide machine only), and a pneumatically controlled dual blade scraper, putting an end to wet prints on back side.

With the VersaCoater XL having been sold just prior to the show, Steve Broad, Sales Director for Drytac Europe, is confident that a few more installations will be completed throughout Europe before the year is out.

Overall, FESPA Digital was an overwhelming success, with several Drytac machines being sold, thus Drytac are actively seeking qualified VARs for representing Drytac throughout Europe and beyond. Interested printer resellers should contact Jim Tatum via email at jimtatum@drytac.com .

Weldmaster T3 desktop banner welder makes for a happy Sign UK

Miller Weldmaster T3

It’s not often that the launch of a new product in the banner finishing market results in potential customers experiencing genuine happiness at first sight, but that was the feeling expressed by many visitors to the Solent stand at the Sign & Digital Show this year.

Solent Sewing & Welding are the UK distributors for Miller Weldmaster’s superb range of heat welding machines for sign and banner printers. The launch of their new desktop hot wedge welder, the T3, specially designed for the lower volume, smaller sign and banner shop means that there is now an affordable alternative to the frustrations of taping or using handhelds.

The new T3 produces all the seams required, welding hems, overlaps, pockets and rope in hem seams and will help the small business owner reduce their costs with the efficiency and dependability of welded seams – a quantum leap in speed and quality. The T3 can weld PVC, mesh, PE and other industrial fabrics and welding speeds up to 10m/min can be achieved.

Designed to easily adapt to any small business, the T3 uses a limited amount of space, is compact enough to fit on a table and can also travel on a track for welding larger banners and awnings.  Easy to operate controls are mounted on the front of the machine and start/stop is controlled either on the front of the machine or by a foot pedal for table-top operation. Built to Miller Weldmaster’s renowned quality, the solid steel frame will provide years of durability and plugs into a normal 3-pin single phase socket.

So when potential customers at the show viewed how easy the T3 is to operate and the superb quality it produces, dozens and dozens reacted with that big smile and the resulting orders have meant that this year’s Sign & Digital Show has been the best ever for Solent/Miller Weldmaster.
