Epson Inkjet Inspires Display Creativity at Fespa Digital 2010

'Inspired creativity' is Epson's theme at FESPA Munich (22-26 June 2010) where it will show the ability of its Micro Piezo digital inkjet technology to produce innovative display graphics for the signage, decorative art and interior design markets on a variety of flexible paper, plastic and textile materials.

The award-winning Epson Stylus Pro 9700 and 7700 inkjet printers will be in action demonstrating point of sale applications such as posters, backlight panels and textile banners, as well as CAD/ GIS applications, in association with Epson's strategic software partners.  The stand highlight will be the 64in Epson Stylus Pro GS6000 printer featuring UltraChrome GS ink demonstrating a number of different indoor and outdoor applications, including interior decoration.

Epson's focus on environmentally responsible technologies is a strong feature at FESPA. BioMedia, a new biodegradable and recyclable print media, will be demonstrated on the GS6000 producing display graphics which biodegrade in under 5 years. BioMedia is a complete range of printing substrates and is quickly becoming the substrate of choice for organisations adopting environmentally responsible display print, including Virgin Atlantic, BAA and World Duty Free.

Inspired by Epson's passion for extreme colour gamut and photographic print quality, the GS6000 uses the high-performance Ultrachrome®GS ink technology. This new ink allows commercial print makers to integrate safer signage printing technology without sacrificing output quality. Epson UltraChrome GS introduces eight individual colours - including Orange and Green - in efficient 950 ml cartridges and produces an exceptionally wide colour gamut making the Stylus Pro GS6000 ideal for branded applications. It delivers virtually odorless printing without the need for special ventilation or air purification systems and the ink dries extremely fast, eliminating the need for special dryers. Furthermore, this ink does not contain harmful Nickel compounds, which minimizes the negative health impact on both the environment and employees. This inkset allows the production of high-impact, high quality durable prints, enabling printers, copy shops and sign shops to extend their business into higher quality and more demanding applications such as airport and exhibition graphics.

On the Epson booth several third-party software and media partners will demonstrate a range of creative applications and effects using a wide selection of materials including wallpaper, textile, canvas, and biodegradable substrates.

Claes Jeppsson, Senior Business Manager, LFP and LFP Solutions, Epson Europe says: "Companies are increasingly looking to push the boundaries of digital inkjet and produce ever more creative applications with high environmental credentials and Epson meets this need with a range of highly flexible and market-leading inkjet printers that can produce the best quality products for the display, decorative art and interior design markets."

Epson Europe looks forward to welcoming you to FESPA Digital 2010 at booth 360 in hall B2 at Messe Munich on 22-26 June 2010, where you will have the opportunity for an in-depth look at these new technologies and products.

With HP customers enjoying what they consider to be market leading print quality, product reliability and total cost of ownership from our products, we anticipate a busy show," concludes Anne Sharp.

Innovations in Garment Decoration at New FESPA Fabric Event

FESPA 2010 (22 – 26 June, Messe Munich) heralds the launch of FESPA Fabric, a comprehensive ‘show within a show’ focussing exclusively on garment decoration.

Occupying a whole hall at the exhibition, FESPA Fabric has been conceived to give textile print professionals, garment producers, fashion technicians, retailers and apparel brand owners access to the latest sector news and developments, and a chance to see the innovative techniques, technologies and consumables that will help them differentiate and add value to their products while optimising productivity and profitability.

At around 8000m2, FESPA Fabric will be more than 30 per cent bigger than previous garment decoration zones within FESPA shows. The event features a world-class line-up of the leading innovators and solution providers in the garment decoration community, including event sponsors Falk & Ross, Gildan, Kornit Digital, as well as other leading industry names such as Heinz Walz, Polyone Wilflex, Quaglia, San Roque and Sawgrass.

FESPA Sales & Marketing Director Marcus Timson comments: “Garment decoration is heavily dominated by the screen printing process, which still offers unique flexibility, creativity and productivity for garment producers. In that respect FESPA, with its deep screen heritage, is the natural home for an event focused on garment decoration, and our show has always attracted a sizeable global audience from this market.

“Building on this track record, we were keen to add more value for these visitors, by giving this part of the FESPA show its own clear identity, and channelling more effort into making it a holistic event experience, with features and educational activities specifically tailored to the interests of this specialist audience.”

Visitors to FESPA Fabric will have the opportunity to see the latest advances in manual and automatic screen printing, digital direct-to-garment technology, drying and heat transfer technology, laser cutting and design software. They will also be able to network with screen printing machine manufacturers, ink innovators, garment producers, and embroidery and flocking specialists to inspire them to take their businesses forward.

Timson continues: “Like all service providers, today’s ultra competitive environment means that garment producers need to stay abreast of technical developments and look at opportunities to achieve greater production efficiencies or speed up time to market. More importantly, in the ultra fast-moving fashion sector, innovation equals differentiation. Garment producers, whether small craft-based businesses or larger volume producers, need to open their minds to new techniques, processes and value-adding applications that can help their customers to create garments that respond more quickly to changing trends, meet consumer demand and gain competitive advantage.”

Fabric Live! is a daily fashion show at FESPA Fabric, featuring show sponsors Falk & Ross and Gildan. A live commentary will provide expert insights into the textiles, inks and processes involved, and the audience will have a chance to network with industry insiders at the Fabric Bar within the Fabric Live! area.

Charlie’s Hub is the place for visitors to find world renowned garment printing expert Charlie Taublieb. He will provide practical demonstrations and valuable insight to help printers hone their techniques and get the most out of their equipment to produce high quality printed fabric products. Garment guru and owner of T-Shirt Biz International, Scott Fresener will be delivering garment decoration master classes every day from 10:00h to 14:00h. Both experts will be on hand to discuss key trends, processes and technologies and answer questions.

Event supporters IFAI (Industrial Fabrics Association International) and WRAP (Worldwide Responsible Accredited Production) will also provide input to ensure that FESPA Fabric visitors can access the latest information about issues such as environmentally sustainable garment production and compliance.
