Paul Tarry, ArtSystems’ Consumables Sales Divisional Manager, explained, “Our resellers work hard all year round and we know they also have a lively sense of humour. We feel that giving them the chance to win a chocolate egg for doing what they will doing anyway will tickle their funny bones. And it’s not just about chocolate! We’ll also be giving away Red Letter Days on some stations, so some lucky people will get the chance to win a very special day out.”

Paul continued, “The hunt will be run each week in March until the Easter weekend. There will be no chance for duplications. Once resellers have picked their station we will ‘close’ them and then ‘reopen’ them the following week. We’ll keep registered resellers updated so they can see how everyone is performing, but they’ll only see the winning station names so everyone playing will remain anonymous. It’s just a bit of fun but it’s also our way of letting resellers know how much we value them.”

UK distributor, ArtSystems, has proudly announced that the Speciality Graphic Imaging Association’s (SGIA) prestigious Product of the Year Competition for Scanning Product of the Year was awarded to Colortrac’s SmartLF SG.

A total of 141 entries were submitted for this exclusive competition which was conducted during the 2015 SGIA Expo in November. Judges said this year’s event was “one of the most challenging in recent history”.

Held in Atlanta, USA, the award was announced to some of the leaders of the specialty imaging industry. ArtSystems’ Sales Divisional Manager, Ted Freer, was enthusiastic about the award, which he said was very well deserved.

“We believe the Colortrac SmartLF SG is the best wide format scanner in its field and this award proves that the SGIA agrees with us. The range offers superior graphics, crystal clear lines and the fastest thick media adjustment on the market, we have every reason to be very proud of this product.”

Ray Weiss, SGIA’s Digital Specialist, said, “We are really thrilled with the participation from exhibiting companies, and we even doubled the product categories to correctly acknowledge all of the possible technical accomplishments honoured in this competition. The award winners have been extremely enthusiastic about their wins, understanding just how competitive the field was this year.”

Fastest ever Colortrac CCD HD wide format scanner

The SmartLF SG series of large format scanners uses the same charge-coupled device (CCD) sensor technology found in professional quality cameras. It will scan thick media in HD up to 1200 DPI and up to 36 or even 44 inches wide.

Instant-on LED lights mean no warm up and no waiting around, and the SmartLF SG range scans all types of paper and mounted documents. It provides super-easy adjustment for different media thicknesses up to 15 mm, and is suitable for:
    •             Hi-Fidelity colour reproduction for scanning and reprographics service professionals
    •             High Speed Technical Imaging within AEC, CAD, Mapping and GIS
    •             Electronic Document Capture (TWAIN)

There are three SmartLF SG high definition large format scanner models in each size (36in or 44in) with performance levels and features optimised for different applications.

If operator requirements change, the m (monochrome/greyscale) and c (colour) models can be easily remotely upgraded to a higher level using a simple emailed scanner upgrade tool. The e (enhanced) upgrade offers the highest colour scanning speed. Monochrome/greyscale scan speeds are identical across all upgrades.

Ted Freer concluded: “Colortrac has created an instant classic with the SmartLF SG series by providing these scanners with a range of specifications that set the benchmark in their marketplace. The SGIA judges reinforced everything we have been saying about these machines, they are simply world beating technology.”

  • Antalis enters 3D print market following reseller agreement with ArtSystems

    Antalis Stratasys Mojo LFR

Antalis has entered the 3D printing market following the completion of a reseller agreement with ArtSystems. The agreement establishes Antalis as a MakerBot Professional Plus Reseller and Stratasys Idea Series authorised partner of 3D printers that use Fused Deposition Modelling (FDM) technology. In addition, Antalis will also offer expert advice and model sampling for customers who are thinking of venturing into the 3D print market.

Commenting on the announcement, Paul Duffy, Antalis Digital Print Development Manager says: “The 3D print market is growing at an unprecedented rate. As our customers become more aware of this burgeoning new technology, they are looking for guidance as to how this could fit within their own businesses. We therefore wanted to use our relationships in key markets to develop a 3D print offering that would fulfill the majority of those customer’s demands, from entry level to more professional applications.”

The MakerBot range is aimed at the education market and the ‘prosumer’ starting out on the 3D journey, with 4 models ranging from a £1,000 to £5,000 to offer differing build volumes. Easy to install and use, the ‘MakerBot Desktop’ software gives the user instant access to printer functionality, training videos, tips and tricks, technical support and access to over a 1,000,000 free customisable models.

The Stratasys Idea Range is aimed at the 3D professional wanting to create highly accurate prototypes and concept proofs with printers costing £6,500 to £14,500. The quality of print on these devices means complex, working, one-piece models can be created and the water soluble support filament means post print fishing is kept to a minimum.

The Stratasys and MakerBot range enable Antalis to offer printers at all price points depending on the customer’s specific requirements.

Duffy continues: “Although 3D print may be too soon for some of our customers, they will be able to learn from us, and start to think about the opportunities that this technology offers.”

According to Duffy, 3D printing is of interest to educators, designers, engineers, marketers and printers who will find familiarity with the 3D process based on their workflow experience in taking digital files through to print. Therefore 3D printing is a natural fit for those companies looking to introduce cutting edge technology to their range of print services.

“We have already had interest from education, copyshops, display companies, packaging specialists, personalised promotional producers and manufacturing companies. Our customers have heard all the myths and hype that comes with 3D printing so many are now looking for clarification - ‘what actually is 3D printing’, ‘how does it work?’ and ‘can I make money with 3D printing in my business? Backed by the manufacturers, we are now in the perfect position to help customers understand the potential of this exciting technology.”

Antalis will be exhibiting its 3D print offering at The Print Show 13–15th October (Stand D40) at the NEC, Birmingham. Antalis also has a stand at The Higher Education Show at London’s ExCeL on 14th October 2015 (Stand 276), where it has 50 premium goody bags to give away to customers who participate in its on-stand free prize draw.

ArtSystems are excited about the event as Ted Freer, Divisional Manager - Design at ArtSystems points out, “We’re very happy to be holding this event. It gives us an excellent opportunity to talk to our resellers face to face and really outline all the support we’ll be giving them throughout the year. The new and existing products we’ll be highlighting too will be great to see, and will demonstrate how we can help resellers move into new markets and build new income streams.”
