William Smith add new courses to The Training Academy for 2022

The new Archtiextural Kitchen Training Course will be added to the 2022 training calendar.

The Training Academy, part of the William Smith Group 1832 is pleased to announce the launch of two new courses for 2022, an Advanced Vehicle Wrap Course and an Archtiextural Kitchen Training Course.

Based within the firm’s state-of-the-art Inspiration Centre, the academy provides assistance and support to those looking to become trained installers, learn how to sell the products or just seek an insight into the architextural and vehicle wrap markets.

Demand for a higher level of vehicle wrap training to complement the longstanding Basic Course has grown over the last few years, bringing about the development of the new Advanced Vehicle Wrap Course and a Wrap Room upgrade .

This 2-day training option will offer experienced vehicle wrappers a course designed specifically to take their wrapping skills to the next level.

The course jumps straight into advanced vehicle wrap techniques, focusing on door shuts, wing mirrors, door handles and the most difficult wheel arches on the roads right now. Courses are limited to four attendees to ensure each delegate has the time and one-to-one tuition needed to not only learn, but perfect applications.

Additional content includes tight corners, trimming techniques, avoiding stretch discolouration and inlays, using a range of branded digital, reflective, coloured and chrome wrap films, from 3M, Avery Dennison and Arlon.

As with the basic course, the entirely practical, Advanced Vehicle Wrap Course is led by our hugely experienced trainers, Gill Harrison (Training and Application Manager, William Smith) and Mike Szwacki (3M, Avery Dennison and Arlon approved wrapper).

To ensure attendee wrap skills are at the necessary level to tackle these advanced techniques, all attendees are required to meet strict criteria with an expectation that attendees are confident to wrap a full vehicle, have completed a recognised vehicle wrap training course in the last five years and have a minimum of two years wrapping experience.

The new Archtiextural Kitchen Training Course will be added to the 2022 training calendar in response to the kitchen refurbishment market that flourished over the last two years, especially during lockdown.

With a large proportion of the Architextural Installation Network specialising in kitchen wraps, a course dedicated to the intricacies of these specific applications will be beneficial to both new businesses looking to diversify into this market and those wanting to refresh their skills.

For this specialist 2-day course, The Academy have brought onboard a new trainer in Phil Moran, owner of Wrapture Architectural Wraps, to share his expertise. Phil will, of course, be working alongside The Training Academy’s Gill Harrison to deliver a comprehensive kitchen wrap course.

The course begins with a morning theory session before moving to the Wrap Room for hands-on practical training using 3M DI-NOC and Cover Styl’ materials. Topic areas include preparation, cut and fold / warm and form techniques, worktop joins, a variety of door styles, worktop appliances, repairs and splice joins.

Dates for the Advanced Vehicle Wrap course are now live on the William Smith website (view the Training Calendar here) with the first course scheduled for 16th – 17th February 2022.

Dates for the Archtiextural Kitchen Training Course are planned to be released in early 2022, so watch this space!
