Luton-based design, print, and digital marketing specialist Treacle Factory are experts in helping businesses get creative with their promotional print materials.
When the time came to expand what they were able to produce in-house in terms of media and size options, they looked to Josero to help them take that next step forward and upgrade their existing Mimaki. Jeremy Brown, Director, Treacle Factory and the team opted for the Mimaki UCJV300-160 printer/cutter, an Easymount 1600 Laminator, and a BubbleFree Pro flatbed applicator table.
"These three products go hand in hand,” says Jeremy. “Mounting has been a challenge so we would generally outsource to people that would print direct-to-substrate, so it’s great to have the ability to print on the vinyl and mount the job ourselves. We’re also able to be more in control of the costs now that we’re producing more of the work in-house. The three pieces of equipment are already working together as a great trio!”
Some of the funds for the new equipment investments were the result of various COVID-19 related government grants, and Jeremy explains that while they obtained quotes from a handful of suppliers, an existing relationship with Managing Director Sarah Winterbottom played a part in clinching the decision to work with Josero. Describing the service as ‘fantastic’, it appears that Treacle Factory made the right decision.
“The advice that they gave and the deal that they offered were fantastic,” says Jeremy. “On the day it came to be installed, it was quite a job – the team managed to get the BubbleFree table to go through our door, which was like a magic trick really! The process was excellent from start to finish.”
The installations of the printer/cutter, the laminator and the applicator table are already yielding positive results for Treacle Factory. Jeremy explains: “The new kit is allowing us to produce a large amount of work that we were sending out every month and bring it in-house. We didn't previously have the capability or tools to do the work that we are now doing. At this moment I’m printing tables for a hotel, which we would never have done in-house before. We can probably bring in another 50 percent of the work that we would normally send out, which is really great.”
Although a further equipment purchase isn’t currently on the horizon for Treacle Factory according to Jeremy, if and when the need arises, he knows who they will turn to first. “If we ever need to upgrade or if one of our machines becomes outdated, we will definitely be coming to Josero again,” Jeremy concludes.
