Through self-funded technology and sustainability reaching through every aspect of the business, 75-year-old British business has been recognised by B Corp as one of the ‘Best for the World’ businesses in terms of environmental impact.
Created just after WWII, this family-run SME has shown “exemplary performance beyond commercial metrics” according to B Lab, ranking the printing business in the top 5% worldwide.
As the highest-scoring B Corp media company, Seacourt’s net-positive business operations have revolutionised the traditional printing process. They have achieved this ranking due to aspects such as the development of quality waterless LED printing process LightTouch, using 100 per cent renewable energy, reducing volatile chemical emissions by 98.5 per cent and delivering zero waste to landfill. The team even has compost and worms on-site for food waste created during lunch! As the final step for emissions that can't be reduced further, Seacourt offsets its entire footprint plus 10 per cent by investing in the widely recognised Climate Care, with cookstoves in Ghana and Bangladesh that require 50 per cent less fuel and less smoke than traditional means, meaning this not only cuts carbon emissions but reduces exposure to toxic fumes.
Gareth Dinnage, MD of Seacourt celebrates saying:
“We are beyond happy and incredibly proud about being recognised as one of the Best for the World B Corps of 2021! As all B Corps are already businesses that meet the highest standards of verified social and environmental performance, public transparency, and legal accountability to balance profit and purpose, this is a recognition that makes us incredibly proud! And we’re just getting started! We will continue collaborating with the global B Corp community to improve and positively impact all our stakeholders.”
As a champion for sustainability, Seacourt aims to achieve yet more by setting itself a goal to become a completely regenerative printing business. With this accolade, Seacourt sets the benchmark for British SME sustainability and is open to support its clients to exceed their environmental impact reduction targets, to help Britain reach net-zero.
Juan Pablo Larenas, Executive Director of B Lab Global commented:
"This year's Best for the World companies are operating at the very top of their class, excelling in creating positive impact for their stakeholders, including their workers, communities, customers and the environment. We're proud of the community of stakeholder-driven businesses we've cultivated over the last 15 years; together we're marching toward our collective vision of an inclusive, equitable and regenerative economic system for all people and the planet."
