Roland DG Corporation, a leading manufacturer of wide-format inkjet printers and printer/cutters, has today announced that two printer/cutters from it’s market-leading TrueVIS range – the AP-640 resin and LG-640 UV model wide format printer/cutter – have earned BLI (Buyers Lab) 2024 Pick Awards, while receiving high marks in evaluation tests conducted by independent testing provider, Keypoint Intelligence.
The AP-640 (CMYK) was awarded in the Outstanding Entry-Level CMYK Eco-Solvent/Latex 54”/64” Printer category while the LG-640 (CMYKReOrWhWh) received acclaim in the Outstanding UV 54”/64” Printer category.
“The flagship TrueVIS series of large-format inkjet printers have been extremely well received, with sales of more than 30,000 units taking place worldwide. These printers not only enhance the day-to-day capabilities of print shops, but they go one step further in empowering users to be creative and innovative within the graphics production process. The BLI Pick award adds to the vast acclaim these machines have already received from graphics production professionals, and we aim for the printers to keep exciting hearts and minds,” said Tony Miller, President of Roland DG’s Global Sales and Marketing Division.
Keypoint Intelligence’s Director of Lab Services EMEA/Asia David Sweetnam added, “We were very excited to test the latest models in the TrueVIS series that reproduce stunning, vibrant graphics with photographic quality even at high speed, and the results exceeded our expectations.”
“In response to the ever-advancing state of technological innovation, we have established even stricter criteria for evaluations and Pick award eligibility this year. The AP-640 and LG-640 were thoroughly and rigorously evaluated for print quality, usability, and productivity and had excellent results.” Sweetnam added.
“The AP-640 resin printer passed our extensive tests with flying colours, demonstrating high performance for colour gamut, colour matching results, image quality, stable wallpaper consistency, productivity, and usability. We were especially impressed by the largest colour gamut measured of any latex/resin printers tested to date, and how it accurately reproduced Pantone brand colours, as well as the very stable reproducibility with minimal colour and dimensional differences over a 30m wallpaper printing test. We believe this recently introduced resin printer is going to be a strong rival against its competitors,” Sweetnam said.
“The LG-640 UV printer was evaluated for two ink configurations, Dual-CMYK and CMYKReOrWhWh. The Dual-CMYK model is truly a printer designed to offer the highest levels of productivity, while also providing high quality output with impressive colour gamut and colour accuracy. The other model with CMYKReOrWhWh ink is designed to offer the highest levels of flexibility to provide high-quality output results in the most appropriate print mode, whether the job requires strict print quality or high productivity. There is no doubt that the LG series will be a formidable competitor as Roland DG expands its competitive edge in the UV market.” Sweetnam continued.
Commenting on Keypoint Intelligence’s analysis, Roland DG’s President for Global Sales and Marketing, Tony Miller said: “We are very proud that our new technologies have been highly commended by Keypoint Intelligence. These results will be useful references for those considering the introduction of new devices to their arsenal, as well as those seeking to take their first steps within the print industry. The results also aid us in informing our product design to further address customer needs as we look to build machines that broaden the horizon of creativity for our customers.”
In January 2023, a total of six new resin and UV models were added to the TrueVIS lineup.
