Renowned industry marketeer Berni Raeside-Bell and a team of intrepid explorers are about to walk part of the National Forest Way - 45 miles in two days - in aid of Brake, the road safety charity.
Training is well underway, with the team ramping up extended walks to get their bodies ready for the epic trek. The purpose of their mission is to raise money for Brake, in memory of Berni’s husband Stewart Bell who was tragically killed when he was knocked off his bike by a motorist on Easter Sunday 2021.
Stewart’s lust for life and his ability to push himself out of his comfort zone is the inspiration for the walk, so please – if you can – click on the link below and give generously to support this worthy charity which relies solely on public donations and fundraising to offer free support to families. An organisation which helped Berni through the worst times after Stew died.
Brake has several campaigns running; one of which is lobbying the government for stricter sentences for deaths caused by careless or dangerous driving. The organisation also campaigns for safer roads and helps bereaved families and victims of road accidents with free support and counselling.
Berni, who never would want to impose on people, has set the fund-raising target at a rather modest £2500 – which has nearly been reached – but I want us, as an industry, to go much further and raise lots more.
Please, if you can, donate in memory of a lovely man who is sadly missed: Berni Raeside-Bell is fundraising for Brake, the road safety charity (justgiving.com).
