Latcham Direct, a leading provider of data, digital, print, marketing and fulfilment services in the UK, has installed a new Océ VarioPrint i300 after approaching Canon, leading imaging solution provider, with aims to boost quality and speed, while reducing running costs.
To meet the increasing appetite for print-on-demand (POD) solutions, Latcham opted to invest in Océ VarioPrint technology as it offered unrivalled quality, media flexibility and productivity. Following in-depth consultations with Canon on options to drive greater operational efficiency with lower running costs, the installation was completed in May.
Latcham Direct Managing Director, Mike Hughes, said: “As the majority of work Latcham produces is highly personalised, we needed to find a solution that could offer versatility, without compromising quality standards, to allow the company to offer its customers next generation in high quality personalisation. Before turning to Canon, our print operators were waiting up to 15 minutes before some jobs would start printing, but the VarioPrint has reduced this waiting time to one minute, which we are extremely impressed with.”
Committed to providing highly personalised, data driven, digital print and marketing content, Latcham Direct looked to Canon to improve their pre existing systems. Hughes continued: “The main challenge we faced was selecting the correct devices to replace Latcham’s existing products; Xerox iGen, Docucolour and Nuvera devices. But, following in-depth consultations on possible replacements, it was clear that inkjet was the way forward, given its high quality, speed and low running cost. Flexibility was also a key decision maker, with the ability to print mono, business colour, and high quality marketing material all from the same device.”
Key benefits from the installation of the Océ VarioPrint i300 include:
• The ability to produce high volume colour inkjet at speed
• Unrivalled operational efficiency and productivity
• Outstanding ability to provide short-runs, personalised documents, white paper solutions and colour-enhanced monochrome documents
Latcham Direct has achieved a great deal of success since launching in 2010. Hughes said: “We are a company structured on the core values of integrity, trust, respect and commitment, and having a strong printing production in place with the help of Canon allows us to keep in line with these values.”
Stuart Rising, Canon UK’s Head of Commercial Print said: “We are so pleased Latcham Direct has put their trust into our products and we are excited to see their production improve with the installation of the Océ VarioPrint i300. The efficiency, quality, and versatility of the machine make it the ideal solution to keep up with the changing nature of the print industry. We know this installation will provide Latcham Direct with the high quality, speed and low running costs they originally set out to achieve.”
