Photo Oxford is an internationally renowned, bi-annual festival of contemporary and historic photography. With over 20 exhibitions and installations indoor, outdoor and online, it celebrates the skill and art of photographers, photographic institutions, publishing and academia from across the globe.
The festival also includes a series of live talks, tours, workshops and participatory events. Prints created for various exhibitions, in particular the Open Call exhibition with winning images selected from global submissions, will be produced by Senecio Digital on a JETRIX LXi7LED-UV Flatbed printer.
The festival runs from the 14th April to 6th May and showcases an extensive range of photography collections. The theme for 2023 is: The Hidden Power of the Archive. This ties in strongly with the many venues and partners involved including Modern Art Oxford, The Bodleian Library, Pitt Rivers Museum, PRS, Pembroke College JCR Art Collection, and others.
JETRIX Powered by InkTec, is supporting the Open Call competition, where over 800 entries from across the world have been submitted by professional and amateur photographers. The submissions are judged, and the selected winning images will be shown in a group exhibition in The Yard at Modern Art Oxford. The winning sequences and singles will also be featured on the Photo Oxford website and through Instagram take-overs.
Joey Kim, Managing Director of InkTec says, “We are absolutely delighted to be supporting this festival. Obviously, there is the association that many of the pieces exhibited are being produced on a JETRIX printer, but more importantly this is an extensive event celebrating photographic art which is right on our doorstep in Oxfordshire. For us, it was also a natural fit to get specifically involved with the Open Call competition.”
Equally, Alexander at Senecio Digital highlights, “We have worked with Alex Schneidman on a number of projects and are thrilled to be collaborating with him again as Artistic Director of Photo Oxford. While we offer a myriad of printing services, this work reflects our ability to work with award winning artists and fine art. Photography has always been an area we are passionate about and so with the various exhibitions involved, Photo Oxford enables us to take what can be achieved printing wise to another level.”
The festival promises to explore what Oxford has to offer, not just intellectually but also from the depth of its communities, the history, and its diversity. Previous events have attracted national and international visitors working with in excess of 400 artists, curators, and creators.
Photo Oxford’s Artistic Director, Alex Schneidman shares; “The diversity of photography which is entered into the Open Call competition is always incredible. It is an exciting element of Photo Oxford which as organisers we love, as it broadens out the reach and appeal, while also reflecting everything we want to be about - transcending language barriers, bringing together communities and facilitating storytelling. We are delighted that JETRIX Powered by InkTec is going to be involved.”
He continues; "We are delighted to have the support of JETRIX for this year’s festival of photography in Oxford, in particular for our exhibition of the Open Call winners and finalists in The Yard at Modern Art Oxford - great local partners for an exhibition of international reach.”
