Family-run sign-making business Humphreys Signs has said that the purchase of a new HP Latex R1000 printer has enabled it to make significant progress with its environmentally friendly goals and take on more sustainable signage work.
Based in Denbigh in North Wales, Humphreys Signs specialises in the production of signage boards for Estate Agents, while also offering a wide range of other printed solutions including banners, posters, health and safety signage, builders’ boards, graphics for the retail and exhibition sectors and more.
While Humphreys Signs’ production facilities were already backed by a portfolio of HP Latex printing equipment including an HP FB500 UV Printer, an HP Latex 360 and an HP Latex 560, the company was keen to expand its production capabilities with an additional flatbed machine.
The company opted to purchase an HP Latex R1000 printer, which was installed in June 2021 by HP reseller Papergraphics. This flatbed machine offers a host of excellent eco credentials, not least the fact it runs UL ECOLOGO certified water-based HP Latex Inks that produce odourless prints and are kinder to the environment than their solvent and UV equivalents.
Will Humphreys, Owner of Humphreys Signs, said the printer’s environmentally focused features were a key factor in the decision to purchase the machine as they fit in with its long-term goals of taking on more sustainable signage work and projects.
He explains: “We loved the fact that the HP Latex R1000 uses more eco-friendly inks. Not only that, it’s also faster than many other printers, can print a gloss or matte finish and even has the ability to print white ink.
“We are working to be more eco-friendly and producing more sustainable signage using recyclable media; the HP Latex R1000 printer was the obvious choice when we were looking to add a flatbed option to our production line-up.”
The HP Latex R1000 is incredibly flexible and can run at speeds of up to 56sq m/hr in outdoor mode. The printer also has a dedicated speed setting for high quality indoor work at 15sq m/hr, as well as standard indoor at 28sq m/hr, white spot at 25sq m/hr and white overflood at 11sq m/hr.
Will Humphreys concludes: “We were already running two HP Latex roll-to-roll machines and were really happy with the print quality that they were producing, so it made sense to turn to HP for our flatbed solution.
"The new HP Latex R1000 flatbed printer has already been put to work on a number of new projects.”
