CSM Live appointed Hollywood Monster to be the principle local supplier for printed materials to dress Birmingham’s Commonwealth Games 2022.
The team from Hollywood Monster embarked on an early drive from the beginning of April to deliver print for key installations across the Midlands before ramping it up in early June and July.
Giles Stanford, Project Director for CSM Live said:
“We were delighted to work with Hollywood Monster, they have supplied materials for all our operations across the city and Games’ Venues. It is very important for us to be procuring local resources and skills providing a boost to the local economy. It has been great to have such capability right in the middle of Birmingham. Thank you very much to all the team at HM”.
Hollywood Monster had invested so much in print technology over the pandemic to enable them to maximise these large scale sporting opportunities; ensuring they had the right machinery, technology and capacity and print operation to deliver all the installations required to bring the colour and excitement of the Games alive.
The scale of the operation saw the team working 7 days a week, 24 hours a day and over 500 hours of print time to hit the deadline to deliver work at key venues, fans sites, town centres and transport links.
Some projects were on a mammoth scale such the production of the wrapping for Copthorne Hotel, hoardings for walkways, bridges, Alexander Stadium, fan parks and smaller projects.
Simon McKenzie, CEO of Hollywood Monster said. “Some print projects were 30m by 20m whilst others were 1000m by 1m and everything in between. As a company we demonstrated that we had the capability of delivering installations in every shape and size. Such a wide spread of work some requiring extensive finishing that only comes with experience”
The Birmingham based company, which has been running for 30 years saw them perfectly placed to support the requirements of the Commonwealth Games and Birmingham City Council.
Simon Mckenzie, said. “It’s with great pride that we can say that our work has been seen and enjoyed by people from all over the world. Above all, it’s fantastic that we have been able to play a role alongside CSM Live at such a fantastic sporting event of Birmingham. We thank CSM Live for trusting us as a partner on such a historic event in our home city”
Tim Andrews MBE who is Chairman of Hollywood Monster is well known for his pride in the City through his charity work in the Community of Birmingham was beaming with pride watching the City come alive by the Games aided by the colourful dressings supplied by the business he founded in 1991 from his parents family loft space.
Tim said, “Our fantastic city has put on a fantastic event and we can rightfully beam with pride around the world.”
Despite the challenges of the pandemic and the upheaval caused by stopping in person events, Hollywood Monster continues to be a business success story for Birmingham”.
