The UK Government has released a new funding competition with a grant opportunity for businesses with plans to respond to the current Covid-19 crisis.
Business-led innovation in response to global disruption is open to UK registered businesses who can present a response to both the new and urgent needs, UK and worldwide, during and following the current pandemic.
Recipients of this grant will receive a share of up to £20 million to create something ambitious and innovative, designed to overcome challenges that are likely to be experienced in the months ahead.
We have all witnessed such creativity, community spirit and innovation in the response to this global pandemic, yet the complex challenges presented continue to either emerge or increase. The aim of this competition is to fast-track innovation to help maintain employment levels and the UK’s competitive position in the global marketplace, along with increasing resilience for future disruption.
Applicants should demonstrate realistic and significant benefits for society or an industry that has been severely impacted, outlining a clear need and proposed innovation with an ability to deliver the project during the lockdown restrictions. The projects eligible costs must fall between £25,000 to £50,000 and be no longer than 6 months in duration. Unfortunately, sole traders are not eligible, but UK registered businesses carrying out the work in the UK can enter and assign subcontractors.
The competition opened on 3rd April, with a closing date of 12.00pm on Friday 17th April. Click here to apply and for full details: https://apply-for-innovation-funding.service.gov.uk/competition/583/overview
