Epson's S3200-U1 head for UV inks is showcased by Gongzheng

Epson’s S3200-U1 head for UV inks is showcased with PrintFactory drivers in the Ghonzheng GZF3200ES.

Working alongside their partners, BYHX and Ghongzheng, PrintFactory has developed the workflow drivers for an application-focused printer using Epson’s new S3200-U1 head and – in an unusual move – Epson has been demonstrating the Ghonzheng GZF3200ES device on its stand at Sign China 2019 this week.

PrintFactory software driving the EPSON 3200 head

PrintFactory is the only workflow software driving this excellent printer, the GZF3200ES, which was designed specifically to make the most of the Epson S3200’s features.

When it comes to UV inkjet printing, experienced operators know that shiny or glossy substrates don’t always ‘play nice’. Even so-called ‘transparent’ substrates may cause UV light to bounce back into the print heads – which can start curing the inks inside the nozzles or on the nozzle plate itself. That can cause serious damage. It certainly shortens the head’s life, and increases costs. However, BHYX and Ghongzheng have taken this on board in the design of their new printer, the GZF3200ES. And with PrintFactory’s workflow software providing all the ink, color, and production quality insights needed, the combination is a winning one.

By virtue of its VISU color engine, and device-link profiling, PrintFactory’s software provides significant improvements to grey balance. This plays to the micro piezo printhead strengths – Epson’s variable drop control technology can deliver enhanced multi-grey printing.

The EPS S3200-U1 has the same shape as Epson’s 5113; it also has the same number of the nozzles – 3200, set out in 8 lines of 400. However, while they’ll both work at the same print speed, it’s the strong resistance to corrosion makes it ideal for UV ink, water-based ink, oil ink, solvent ink and so on. The 5113 head was more suitable for pigment ink and disperse dye ink.

While the EPS S3200-U1 has had 30 years of development behind it, it’s still coming to the market at a low price - which is appealing, particularly for the industrial market. An ideal solution.

Software made by printers who understand printers’ everyday challenges

Ivan Khoo, Director of PrintFactory Asia Pacific, said, “Visitors to Sign China 2019 might have been surprised to discover just how many well-known devices are being shipped with PrintFactory workflow software now. We work closely with the right manufacturers to deliver the drivers, features, and workflow software tools that LFPs really need to overcome simple, everyday problems. Like using Epson’s excellent UV head in a great printer, for example, but not getting the full benefit of its in-built features. Color management is everything in our business - and LFPs want to buy the best, most affordable equipment they can, but be 100% sure they’ll get the best quality print from that kit, consistently.”

PrintFactory is delivered via a network of distributors, worldwide. This workflow software already offers more features than its competitors’, and the company’s close partnerships with device manufacturers bodes well for not only standard markets, but also for industrial scale operations.
