The new Zünd D3 cutter, which made its debut at Drupa 2016, was given the EDP Award 2016 for 'Best wide format finishing solution'.
With this award, EDP recognises that Zünd's D3 dual-beam cutting system is setting new standards in productivity.
Zünd's new D3 cutting system receives an EDP 2016 trophy from the European Digital Press Association, an association of leading European magazines devoted to digital print and production.
The organisation's distinguished jury recognised Zünd as standout in the development of innovative solutions and ever more productive finishing systems. The successful Swiss company, which is family owned, introduced the D3 as its latest flagship cutter at Drupa. The new dual-beam cutting system, capable of delivering twice the output of a single-beam system, won top honours in the category for "Best wide format finishing solution".
The significant gains in productivity made possible with D3 are primarily due to its dual-beam construction, with twin beams operating independently and simultaneously in one efficient production workflow. Each beam can carry up to three different tool modules. Depending on the specifics of the job, D3 can effectively double the throughput. The precision of the system's direct drive, the quality of the state-of-the-art user interface and workflow software, guarantee the highest levels of productivity and profitability. The D3 cutter integrates seamlessly in any existing production environment and brings with it a clear competitive advantage in markets that demand ultimate performance.
"Our digital cutting solutions contribute significantly to overall productivity increases, but just as importantly, the trend towards automation in different phases of production also demands a seamless data workflow. By combining the new Zünd D3 ultra high-performance cutter with Zünd Cut Center – ZCC software, we can offer obvious added value to customers looking to make their production both more efficient and more profitable," says Lars Bendixen, Product Manager Graphics.
For the past ten years, the EDP, its Technical Committee and jury, in addition to EDP members in a special general assembly, have evaluated developments and products in the graphics industry and recognised those most worthy of interest and commendation. For details visit www.edp-awards.org.
