i-Sub has installed a Reggiani ReNOIR Compact sublimation printer at Leicester-based Miss Look to help the company speed up the sampling process and retain its innovative design patterns in-house.
Founded in 2013, Miss Look designs clothing and provides garment samples for numerous online fashion companies. Prior to the installation of the new Reggiani printer, the company outsourced its sample printing to other printing businesses.
This was not without complication – however – as Miss Look’s Design Creator, Devinder Thind, explains: “The fashion business is very time-pressured and we need to get our designs out of the door to our retail customers as quickly as we can. Samples were not being turned around as quickly as we’d have liked by the companies we outsourced to, which – in turn – led to a delay in delivery times to our customers.
“Additionally, we were finding that our clothing designs were being quickly copied by competitors; it became clear that the only way to fully retain control over our designs was to bring everything in-house. In particular, our popular Christmas-themed swing dress design last festive season – of which we won contracts amounting to 350,000 dresses – was copied all over the place and we wanted to ensure that this didn’t happen again.”
The company was therefore keen to retain control of its designs and speed up the production process so looked for a suitable dye-sublimation printer to create such sample garments in-house.
Accompanied by Reggiani reseller i-Sub, Miss Look went out to Reggiani’s Italy headquarters to see the printers in action and ultimately settled on the Reggiani ReNOIR Compact model. Introduced following the success of the wider ReNOIR printing machines, the ReNOIR Compact printer has a 180cm printing width and a smaller footprint yet retains the great performance and productivity for which Reggiani machines are renowned.
With 8 to 16 printing heads and a maximum production speed of 620 sqm/h, the Reggiani ReNOIR Compact embraces the very latest digital printing technology and combines ease of use with low maintenance costs, making it an ideal solution for sampling and production.
The Reggiani printer integrates a continuous ink supply system, ink recycling system and degassing to ensure optimal performance and reduce running costs. The high performance disperse-sublimation inks have been specifically designed for sublimation printing on paper and create vibrant results.
The new printer was successfully installed at Miss Look’s premises in February 2016. Devinder Thind continues: “As well as enabling us to regain full control over our designs, the new printer is capable of producing the most stunning colours – the likes of which we’d been unable to achieve before. The colours are brilliant.”
With regards to working with i-Sub, Devinder Thind certainly has no complaints. He says: "The installation process was very straightforward and we undertook training in both Italy – at Reggiani’s HQ – and back here at i-Sub’s Kettering-based premises. Everything has gone very well.”
Nick Davies, Sales Director, i-Sub, concludes: “We were delighted to supply and install the new Reggiani ReNOIR Compact printer for Miss Look. Not only has it enabled the company to increase the production speed of its samples and boost the colour gamut of its designs, it has also helped it to maintain a much greater degree of control over its business.”
i-Sub and its sister company i-Sub Digital recently moved to new premises three times the size of its previous site. Remaining centrally located in Kettering, Northamptonshire, the new facility accommodates a large selection of print and finishing solutions available for customer demonstrations.
