Sometimes only the best will do, and this is most definitely the case when it comes to Yugo Student Living.
Jake Jennings is the designer behind the highly impactful facades for the innovative student housing provider, and he specifically selected Somerset based WithPrint to deliver the colourful solution to over 40 sites across the UK and Ireland.
Yugo wanted to ensure that whatever vinyl substrate was chosen for the installation, it should be robust and stand the test of time. Contra Vision were selected to provide the solution. Being the world’s only specialist one-way vision film provider, Contra Vision know a thing or two about the most suitable product to use.
“We selected Contra Vision based on quality, longevity and the excellent results with have experienced with them on past projects” said Alan Smith, MD WithPrint. “When a client wants reassurance that the project is going to go smoothly, we need to ensure that we select the right material for the job”
Contra Vision Performance White on Black in 30% transparency was used across all sites, with Contra Vision Campaign Clear in 30% transparency was used in difficult to access areas including stairwells. Using a clear film and reverse printing the design, allows for an internal application. This can be particularly beneficial and offers considerable cost savings, versus hiring access equipment.
Alan added, “We are confident that we can load up a whole 50m roll of Contra Vision, and leave it running overnight. No head strikes, no issues”
The material was printed using on a Mimaki UCJV 300-160 using UV ink and LED cured, with some sheets being cut to shape prior to installation. WithPrint experienced no issues in either the printing process or during application, which is important when some sites are up to 200sqm in area. The installation part of the project needed to be complete in a very short space of time, so getting things right first time was key to success.
The feedback from Yugo has been excellent. They are delighted with the results, saying everything looked perfect, and the colours appear strong and vibrant.
Consistency is important to Contra Vision, and they are sponsoring the ‘Graphics Roll-Out’ category at this year’s UK Graphic Awards in Manchester.
Adam Paget, Head of UK, Ireland & Middle East Sales at Contra Vision, commented on their decision to support the Awards: “The UK Graphic Awards is a great way to showcase creativity in our market, and we’re proud to be part of such an innovative, exciting industry. With the Awards creating a platform to help celebrate the amazing work being done, we are happy to be sponsoring the ‘Graphics roll-out’ category.
Offering products that can be consistently and reliably printed, and applied across numerous sites, is an important part of what Contra Vision and our customers do. Together we transform glass across the UK and beyond."
