The 2020 British Sign Awards will be presented at a Gala Celebration event to be held at the Athena in Leicester City Centre on Thursday, November 12th.
“The Athena has been home to the Awards for the past three years and following last year’s fantastic event, which received universal acclaim from both sponsors and participants, we felt we should return to the venue which has provided such a fabulous backdrop to our celebration of UK sign making,” said Ray Hirst, who created the Awards in 2013 and, together with a small team, has run them ever since.
“The British Sign Awards are now established as one of the premier events in the sign industry’s calendar and our experience over the past six years means that we have everything in place to continue to make them more successful and meaningful.
“There is one big difference this year,” he added. “In the past, the Awards have been run under the banner of a trade association, but going forward they will be totally independent.
“As a fully independent scheme we feel we can reach out to many more of the estimated 4000 sign businesses across the UK and provide everyone with an opportunity to have their work recognised. We will continue to run the award categories we have established over the past few years, with the addition of a new ‘Green Award’ which is designed to recognise the efforts of sign businesses to meet their environmental responsibilities.”
The first call for entries to this year’s awards will go out shortly and the closing date for entries will be Friday, September 12th. Full details and entry forms can be found on the Awards stand-alone website at www.britishsignawards.org.
Winners of the 2019 Awards. The established categories will return this year under an independent banner.
