Nicholas Thompson will be taking up the role of Managing Director for the UK and Ireland after a short period of time as deputy MD. He has been with Antalis for over nine years, more recently as its Packaging Director and prior to that as Antalis’ Supply Chain Director. Nicholas new appointment ideally positions him to help with future growth and innovation at Antalis with his background at both Antalis and in previous supply chain roles at Tesco, Sainsburys and Amazon.
Nicholas stated: “It is a great honour to be leading the team at Antalis and to take over from David who has professionally overseen the many changes that the company has undertaken over the last eleven years. I intend to lead Antalis through the next phase of evolution, including strengthening its Papers division and accelerating the growth in Packaging and Visual Communications.”
Current Managing Director of Antalis UK and Ireland, David Hunter, is due to retire in July of this year. David was appointed Managing Director in 2012 having previously spent many years in B2B wholesale distribution at companies such as Wolseley, B&Q and Jewson.
During his tenure, David navigated the company through several acquisitions, significant growth and changes in ownership, in often challenging market conditions including the unprecedented Covid-19 pandemic. More recently, he has steered the business through a major IT transformation, and David has been the driver of a profound Health and Safety culture throughout the business.
Nicholas added: “Understanding the many challenges that our customers face is imperative. We will be building on all the good work that has taken place recently including the development of Antalis’ sustainability strategy and environmental solutions that help our customers to achieve their own sustainability goals. Other top priorities for the business will be driving digital transformation and maintaining the company’s priority on health, safety and well-being.”
