Alwan Color Expertise has announced version 6 of its Color Suite.
The new Alwan suite of software – ColorHub, PrintStandardizer and PrintVerifier – enables printers to calibrate and profile their print devices during production without the need for costly expertise or dedicated print sessions. Visitors to drupa will be able to see the new solution at drupa on booth C17, Hall 7.
Elie Khoury, explains why this profiling technology is important to the print industry: “Everybody agrees today that in order to print accurate colours, print devices should be calibrated, profiled and colour managed. Calibration makes print devices tone reproduction stable and consistent, profiling makes their colour reproduction predictable and accurate, and colour management makes incoming job colour definition match actual device capabilities. Device calibration has been successfully used by printers for years now, allowing them to match ISO 12647, G7, or custom curves. PDF colour management has been also used for years, allowing printers to optimise incoming files to their printing process. However, profiling has been and still is the pain point and the missing link in the colour managed workflow. Long, costly, complicated, off-production, and often unsuccessful, many printers do not profile often enough or even at all their conventional or digital device.
"By bringing to the market this new and industry-first technology, Alwan intends to remove the last obstacle which prevents printers from profiling their presses. With the same software - Alwan PrintStandardizer 6 - the same colour bar, and the same measuring instrument, printers are able to calibrate and profile their devices automatically and without interruption of production, taking into account any change in ink, substrate, or ambiant conditions virtually in real-time.
“This new Alwan technology works of course for all printing processes: flexo, digital, offset, screen, gravure etc. and for all process colours: CMY, CMYK, n-Color, Extended Color gamut etc.”
Inline profiling Demo
In partnership with QuadTech and GOSS International, Alwan will be showing visitors how they can automatically calibrate, profile and colour manage their print devices during production and without the need for any calibration or profiling session.
